Tan Sri Hamid could remember back to when Merdeka happened and the idea of Malaysia was being discussed. As a teenager. His father Syed Jaafar was very much involved in the latter as UMNO Sevretary General. Who was vehemently opposed to Lee Kuan Yew.

He felt tys different parties needed to overcome their differences and work together for the common good of the nation rather than their own vested interests.

He felt despite everything Malaysia is still one of he best countries in the world.

Yazid was anxious that we learn from the issues then to deal with issues now. Especially how to handle uncomfortable coalitions.

He made the documentary series to brig history alive. To highlight the dramatic twists and turns in our nation’s complicated birth.

Deborah emphasised that Malaysia needs to be aware and celebrate its long history of multicultural that’s been there for centuries. Not just in the recent colonial past.

That Malaysia must strive to be a nation where all its citizens can feel that they belong. That they will be treated with dignity. That those seeking refuge here are also treated with dignity too.

Chacko added in that it was high time we moved on from race and religion based politics. A dangerous relic from Britaijs’s policyvif divide and rule. That parties need to fucud on their policies. His they are going to deal with pressing issues at hand. The economy. Thd polarisation. The corruption
